It started only as curiosity about whether a clothing business is a good venture after graduating. JM’s Clothing Shop was formerly known as J&M Clothing. It is owned and managed by Ms. Jadelle May L. Taguines. Today, it has 2 branches located in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City. Ms. Jadelle May L. Taguines, the CEO of the clothing shop, is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management batch 2022. Aside from being the shop owner, the CEO is a mom of a daughter and a hands-on wife.
The CEO started the shop with only 4 thousand pesos in late January 2022. Her first item was thrift dresses, pants, and shorts, also known as ukay clothes in the Philippines. It was overwhelming at first since the owner started the business from scratch. At first, all clothes were sold easily, but after investing in another bale (set of clothes), there were no orders. At this time, the owner decided to sell by doing a live selling on the Facebook platform, but it was still not enough. On the third week of February 2022, clothes were hung in the front yard of her house. Customers started to pour continuously and unexpectedly.
When the magic of perseverance sparked
in the heart of voidness
With the growing number of customers, Ms. Jadelle decided to open her house with a tarpaulin roof only. Items in the shop were also added, such as brand new clothes, men’s clothes and many more. With her dedication, it was renovated and became a corrugated roof (yero) with good lighting and ventilation in the shop.
Opening a physical store separated from the house had never been a plan of Ms. Jadelle, until she saw an opportunity in a vacant stall located in front of a hotel establishment and beside a government building. Without any doubt, she inquired, signed a contract, and started renovating the stall from scratch. The shop opened its doors to customers on October 10, 2022, and celebrated its grand opening on October 14, 2022, with three employees.
Today, the shop in front the yard of Ms. Jadelle May Taguines is still operating, and more than hundreds of clothes can be found in both shops. From brand-new, thrift, overruns, fashionable, and branded clothes.
